De-escalating Negative Behavior

Description:

Children today can represent a host of challenging and dysregulated behaviors. This training will explore the roots of challenging behavior from a trauma-informed approach. We will cover proactive and reactive strategies to manage and de-escalate children in crisis and build supportive environments for children to learn social and emotional skills.

Presenters:

Detective Megan Linn

With the Hillsboro Police Department for 3 years. Megan started her career in the City of Tigard prior to Hillsboro. She is currently assigned to BASE as the School Resource Officer. She also plays several important roles within the police department such as Force and Tactics Instructor, a Police Training Officer, and a member of the Crisis Negotiation Unit. Outside of work she enjoys fitness activities, the outdoors, and spending time with her daughter.

Will Henson

A licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Oregon. He is the consulting psychologist to the Hillsboro School District and serves on the Hillsboro School and Hillsboro City Threat Assessment Team. He is the author of Behavior Support Strategies for Education Paraprofessionals and the Co-Founder of 321insight.com.
